Supply Chain Management Course List

What is Supply Chain Management?

What is SCM?
One way to describe logistics is to define its components. These include supply chain management, customer service, operations management, material handling, administrative management, traffic and transportation management, planning and forecasting, purchasing, parts and service support and distribution communications. In essence, logistics is the management and coordination of all activities that have to do with moving goods to the right place at the right time at the right price. Few university degrees include as many aspects of a business organization. For more information, please contact the Center For Logistics Management.

This major is integrated with key business courses, yielding a well-rounded graduate in SCM, especially if the graduate has taken advantage of the internship program.

The MBA SCM Concentration
MBA students can specialize in SCM by integrating key SCM courses with the University of Nevada general MBA program. MBA SCM students often get to work closely with faculty on research projects and as teaching assistants.

Internships
Internships with local and national companies are readily available. Students gain valuable experience that helps them prepare for a permanent position in the industry. Often, these internships lead directly to a position with the intern firm.

Scholarships
Many scholarships are available for qualified students. These scholarships come from many sources such as Ford, Owen Distribution and Dermody Properties.

University of Nevada Logistics Council
The University of Nevada Logistics Council (UNLC) is a student group dedicated to learning about the art and science of logistics. Every semester the UNLC hosts several lunches where executives from around the world come and share their experiences with students. The UNLC also organizes trips to benchmark firms in locations such as Seattle and Los Angeles each term.
