Account Creation IssuesAt the beginning of the semester on designated date, all the accounts will be created in the system. When this happens an email is sent out with your username from an @e-academy.com address. If you register late or your spam filter is aggressive you might not receive the email. If this is the case, please email cobalabs@coba.unr.edu with your UNR Student Email address and account information will be re-sent. Are you checking your UNR Student Email address? The email will be sent to whichever address you have registered in ePAWS so be sure to log in and update your address. If you are checking the correct email address and you have not received an email: First be sure to double check your Junk Email folder to ensure the email did not end up there. If you still do not have the email visit the MSDNAA Download page and choose the Log In link. Click the Login Help link and type the email address that you have registered in ePAWS and your username, your password will then be sent to that email address. What will the emails look like? - The initial email will be from "User Import [system_mail@e-academy.com]" with a Subject line of "Welcome to MSDN Academic Alliance: Online Software System". I have seen this go into spam folders quite frequently. You will want to look in your spam folder for this email. -If a username/password is re-issued it will show up from "elms_support@e-academy.com" with a Subject line of "Account Activated!". This one is even more spam sounding so if you have an aggressive filter it will show up in your spam folder.

Creating an ISOIf you download some of the software like Windows XP, it will be in a file with a *.iso extension. In order to use this file you will need to either "unpack" it or write it to a cd. The following page describes how to write the .iso images to CD's for many of the most common CD Writing Applicaitons. http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm The following free software has been tested by us as being able to write the ISO images to a CD: Active@ ISO Burner |
Why do I have to use my UNR Student email Address? We will only send to your UNR Student email address because that is the only verifiable valid email address that we have access to. We are also responsible through our terms of use with Microsoft to report software usage and make sure that each one of you only downloads software the # of allowable times. Because of this we need an email address that does not change and that is tied to you for your entire degree program at the University. You are more than welcome to have your email forwarded to your personal email address as needed, but all correspondence for the program will be done through your UNR Student email address. For instructions on access or forwarding please see the following page. |
Can't you change the from address or subject line so it doesnt show up in my SPAM Folder? The E-Academy System for distributing the software over the Web is contracted by Microsoft and then licensed to Universities to be able to provide the downloads to students. The best part is that it is free to us. It is a fairly robust system that is built as a global template for all Universities. We do not have the ability to modify any of the system workings as this would creat a lot of unwanted overhead for the E-Academy People. They use that same subject line and email address for all the universities across the world. We just need to adapt and work with the system. Spring 2006 is the first semester that we have used the system for all COBA courses and will have all the bugs worked out in the future. |
I keep trying to download it but it stops downloading in the middle. When you put the software in your cart and then checkout, the download link that it gives you is a tool that manages the download of the software. You should "SAVE" this file to a known location on your computer. DO NOT "Open" this file, becuase it will go into your temporary internet files and you will have a difficult time finding it. This file will be named [Product Title].exe (example: Windows_XP_Professional_w_Sp2.exe). If you close the download window or the download times out, you simply have to execute that file again and it will resume the download. This file also allows you to unpack the files that can be installed from the hard drive like Visual Studio.Net. |
