LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY, Los Alamos, N.M.

ES&H Computer Based Training Center (6/93‑8/95).  Staff Member, Environment Safety and Health Division.  Technical team leader for ESH-13 Computer Based Training lab. Network administrator for Novell local area network and database administrator for Oracle database. Responsible for design, development, and maintenance of cost effective and efficient network for the CBT lab. Worked as team member to develop, modify and maintain computer-based training modules using interactive multimedia tools on multiple platforms. Active member of the Computer Training Technologies Committee and Distance Learning Task Force.

 

Management Information Systems Business Process Reengineering Team for Environment Safety and Health Division (5/95-8/95). Technical representative to division-wide team formed to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through the application of modern information technologies. Recommended solutions incorporated scaleable and flexible designs that encompassed numerous information data flows in the ESH Division.

SUNRISE project (2/94-8/94). Staff Member, Computing, Information and Communications Division. Education project team to develop a working model illustrating the capability and power of multimedia databases and virtual laboratories using digital video and synchronized sound. Demonstrated new technologies used to facilitate high‑level cognitive learning over distance. Concepts from the field of multimedia, high-speed networking, and Interactive distance learning were combined to create the model. Project utilizes Netware IP, networked video servers, Video for Windows, Internet browsers, and PC’s.

 

Computing Resources Director ‑ SWOOPE program,(1/92-5/93).  Earth and Environment Sciences. Manage computing resources for the Students Watching Over Our Planet Earth Environmental science education program. Duties included the administration and technical development of a relational databases, development of efficient techniques to analyze and present data, administration of local area networks, development of user‑friendly mechanisms to access wide area networks, and development of computer based curriculum using interactive multimedia and instructional technologies on multiple platfomrs.

 

APS/CASE Administrator, (7/90-12/91). Staff Member, Administrative Data Processing. Responsible for system administration of Intersolv's Application Productivity System. Provided technical consulting support, training, and problem diagnosis for APS and associated software. Coordinated efforts between Novell LAN management and APS administration. Work environment made extensive use of microcomputers, local area networks, telecommunications, tools and IBM 3090 mainframe computers.

 

TEXAS TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE, College Station, TX

Graduate Research Assistant (11/88-5/90). Development and maintenance programming for a series of systems used to conduct accident analysis for the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation. Published reports statewide accident statistics. Work environment made extensive use of personal computers and software applications connected by a Novell Local Area Network.

·         $1075.00 – Competitive Grant awarded by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. University of Nevada, Reno to purchase software for examining the effectiveness of constructing concept maps to support student learning.

·         $500 - Competitive Grant awarded by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. University of Nevada, Reno used to support a project examining the Internet as mechanism to facilitate efficient markets for on-line sports wagering.

·         $600.00 – Competitive Grant awarded by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. University of Nevada, Reno to purchase software for examining knowledge equity at Sweitzer Engineering in Pullman, Wa. Funds were used to develop and validate a survey instrument, generate an on-line version of the study, and tabulate results.
