Bachelor of Arts in Economics
Economics has sometimes been called the “queen of the social sciences,” and the Bachelor of Arts degree in economics emphasizes economics as a social science rather than as a business school discipline. Like other degrees in the College of Liberal Arts, this program requires a foreign language. Unlike all other degrees offered by departments in the business school, this degree does not require the upper-division business core, and it has fewer courses that must be completed in the lower-division business core.
This degree is one of the most flexible on campus, with a significant number of elective credits that gives the student the opportunity to combine economics training with any of a number of other fields of study. In addition to the general program, this major has five additional tracks that lead to dual majors.
The required curriculum for the B.A. in Economics can be found in the online university catalog.
The Economics major has specific advising forms, which students should print off and complete before seeing the major faculty advisor. These include two pages:

Page 2 – Economics Track Electives (choose only one):
- General Economics Track
- Regional/Spatial Economics Track -- dual major in Economics and Geography. Recommended for those interested in careers in land use planning or state and local government.
- Behavioral Economics Track -- dual major in Economics and Psychology. Recommended for those interested in one of the hot new combinations in the field.
- Pre-Law / Public Policy Track -- dual major in Economics and Political Science. Recommended for those preparing for law school.
- International Affairs Track -- dual major in Economics and International Affairs. Recommended for those seeking careers with international scope.
- Graduate School Preparation Track -- dual major in Economics and Mathematics. Recommended for those interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics.
Bachelor of Science in Economics
The Bachelor of Science Degree is a traditional business school degree with a major in economics. It requires the same lower-division and upper-division business core courses required of all other undergraduate degrees in the College of Business Administration (except for the Bachelor of Arts in Economics), and gives students a good foundation in all major fields of business administration. Because the typical economics course is more analytical in nature and broader in scope than the typical business course, economics training effectively complements the more application-oriented business degree, producing a graduate who is prepared to succeed in the business world.
The required curriculum for the B.S. in Business Administration with a major in economics can be found in the online university catalog.
