Why Business?

Alumni

The College of Business Alumni Association (COBAA) was established to support the College of Business in its goal of achieving excellence in business education. COBAA allows alumni opportunities to give back to the College in a coordinated effort and fosters a relationship between students, faculty, government and the business community.

Who are we?

COBAA is comprised mainly of alumni, but membership is open to anyone interested. COBAA operates under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Business and is a recognized alumni organization of the University of Nevada, Reno. COBAA is organized under a set of bylaws and governed by a board of directors who meet monthly.

What does COBAA do?

Networking: COBAA' s not all work and no play! During the fall semester we host an informal mixer. Held in the early evening, we encourage alums and faculty to stop by after work and catch up on events.

Scholarship and Awards Reception: As a result of profits from our events throughout the year, COBAA is able to present scholarships to help further the studies of several deserving business students. We also celebrate some of the finest in business by honoring members of the business community with the COBAA outstanding Alumnus award. Similarly, we also select and present an Outstanding Faculty award.

Golf Tournament: The biggest and most fun of all our activities is the annual four-person scramble golf tournament and barbecue. Proceeds help support the association and have allowed COBAA to establish scholarships and endowment fund for the College. This event is held after spring graduation and is fun for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Venture: The official newsletter to our alumni and business community is published four times a year. It is our primary avenue of contact with close to 4,000 graduates of the College. Venture is the primary contact between the College and alumni. Featured are articles about our activities, alumni and the College.

Faculty Relations: COBAA actively pursues an alliance with the faculty and staff of the College. The association provides a speaker' s bureau to the faculty for in-class speakers and presentations.
